What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part time Garden Center Sales Associate position at DIGG Gardens?
DIGG Gardens is not just a plant shop. We're the place people come to when they want their home to feel more alive, their porch to feel more like a retreat, their life to feel a little more grounded. Our mission is to help people integrate plants and goods into their indoor and outdoor spaces to enhance their wellbeing and creativity — and every person on our team is part of making that happen.
We're looking for a Part Time Outside Garden Sales Associate, including Saturdays and Sundays — our highest-traffic days. You'll work outside in our garden center, helping customers find the right plants, answering questions, keeping the space looking its best, and making sure every person who walks through our gate feels like they're in good hands. This is a physical, outdoor role. You'll be on your feet, in the elements, loading bags of soil, watering plants, and doing it all with a smile. If that sounds like your kind of day, keep reading.
- Welcome and assist customers in our outdoor garden center with warmth and genuine enthusiasm
- Help customers find the right plants and products for their spaces — listening first, recommending second
- Keep the garden center organized, clean, and visually sharp — noticing what needs attention before a customer does
- Assist with loading purchases, restocking, and maintaining plant health (watering, weeding, checking for pests)
- Stay connected with the team via Slack and email — we communicate digitally and everyone is expected to stay in the loop
- Show up fully for our busiest seasons: winter and spring are our peak times, and GardenFest weekend in February is non-negotiable for all team members
This role has a real seasonal pattern and we want you to know it upfront:
- Winter and Spring: Our busiest season. Hours are fuller, energy is high, and GardenFest in February is our biggest event of the year — all hands on deck, no exceptions.
- Summer: Our slowest season. Hours will likely be reduced. If you need consistent full hours year-round, this may not be the right fit — and that's okay.
- WEEKENDS REQUIRED
We'd rather you know this now than be surprised later.
- You genuinely love plants, gardens, or the outdoors — not just as a hobby, but as something you talk about with people
- You get energy from helping someone figure out exactly what they need, even when they don't know how to ask for it
- You notice when something's out of place and fix it without being asked
- You thrive in a physical, outdoor environment — heat, lifting, and long shifts don't drain you, they energize you
- You communicate clearly and reliably — you check your messages, you respond, you show up
- You've looked us up and something about DIGG Gardens resonated with you before you even applied
