About This Role
DIGCO, a Quanta Services company, is seeking an experienced HDD Operator / Locator to support underground gas utility construction projects. This role is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and/or locating drilling paths to support underground utility installation activities.
The HDD Operator / Locator plays a critical role in ensuring bores are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and utility requirements.

About This Role
DIGCO, a Quanta Services company, is seeking an experienced HDD Operator / Locator to support underground gas utility construction projects. This role is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and/or locating drilling paths to support underground utility installation activities.
The HDD Operator / Locator plays a critical role in ensuring bores are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and utility requirements.
What You'll Do
- Operate HDD equipment and/or locate drilling operations for underground utility installation projects
- Read and interpret utility locates, bore plans, and jobsite layouts
- Monitor bore path alignment and communicate with crews to maintain safe drilling operations
- Support drilling fluid management, tooling setup, and equipment maintenance activities
- Conduct daily inspections of drilling and locating equipment and report maintenance needs
- Assist with potholing, utility verification, and jobsite preparation activities
- Follow all company and client safety procedures related to excavation and directional drilling operations
- Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Experience operating HDD equipment and/or utility locating systems in underground utility construction
- Understanding of underground utility locating, bore path tracking, and excavation safety practices
- Ability to read utility maps, bore plans, and construction drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in active construction environments
- Ability to work safely around underground utilities and energized infrastructure
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Gas utility, pipeline, or underground construction experience preferred
- Bilingual / Spanish-speaking abilities are a plus
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing
