Position Summary
The Civil Construction Estimator supports the bidding process through the development and preparation of detailed cost estimates for assigned projects or services. This role follows established estimating procedures, methods, and processes while coordinating estimates and proposals with the assigned field team. The Estimator presents periodic and final submittals to the corporate representatives for review as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and organized cost estimates using HCSS and other estimating tools.
- Assist with proposal submittal documents, including schedules, diagrams, work plans, and figures.
- Coordinate quantity takeoffs from project plans and proposal documents.
- Review and fully understand drawings, specifications, measurement methods, and payment terms.
- Assess and communicate project risks based on thorough knowledge of proposal documents.
- Understand and accurately apply labor, equipment, and production rates to estimates.
- Help develop competitive bid strategies and value-added solutions.
- Prepare proposal schedules using critical-path scheduling software.
- Maintain and update historical cost databases for labor, equipment, and materials.
- Attend pre-bid walks and preconstruction meetings as required.
- Assemble complete bid files documenting all estimate development information.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Meet all assigned bid deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum -3 - 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience with scheduling software (MS Project, or similar).
- Experience with estimating software (HCSS, B2W/Bid2Win, or similar).
- Quantity takeoff experience using Bluebeam.
- Strong analytical and project management skills with solid construction knowledge.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and creative mindset.
- Safety-focused and committed to ethics and integrity.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for company business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating projects ranging from $2 million to $30 million.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This is primarily an office-based position requiring frequent computer use and communication. Occasional travel to job sites is required. Site visits may involve extended standing or walking and require use of PPE. Exposure to heavy equipment, dust, fumes, chemicals, uneven terrain, and extreme weather conditions is possible.

Compensation Range: $110,000 – $125,000
