Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and maintain a cohesive, collaborative maintenance team across all three shifts.
- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the maintenance department.
- Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient work practices.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and develop maintenance personnel.
- Provide effective onthejob training and performance management, including evaluations and corrective actions.
- Maintain real-time awareness of maintenance challenges and develop effective corrective strategies.
- Create and implement procedures to reduce equipment downtime and prevent future failures.
- Partner with Operations to develop, optimize, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs that maximize equipment life and performance.
- Plan and utilize scheduled downtime to complete repairs, replacements, and maintenance projects.
- Develop and execute maintenance and capital improvement projects.
- Identify and implement costsaving initiatives aligned with operational goals.
- Direct and coordinate daily maintenance activities and work assignments.
- Maintain clear communication with Operations to ensure maintenance needs are prioritized and addressed.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits and compliance.
- Oversee and maintain an efficient spare parts inventory.
- Ensure warranty claims are processed and tracked appropriately.
- Work with chemical treatment companies to ensure proper operation of boilers, refrigeration condensers, and water softeners.
- Coordinate inspections and maintain compliance with local and state regulatory requirements.
- Manage external contractors and service providers.
- Prepare cost estimates and project proposals for senior leadership and ownership.
Minimum Requirements
- BS degree in a relevant field and 5 years of maintenance leadership experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in processed meats, including preparation, thermal processing, and packaging.
- 5 years of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience in a food manufacturing setting.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Maryland Wastewater Operator and Superintendent Certification within 180 days of hire.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong consideration will be given to candidates with hands-on knowledge of:
- Steam generation and lowpressure boiler systems
- Thermal oil boiler systems
- Industrial refrigeration systems
- Electrical distribution systems
- Robotic palletizing equipment
- Process Safety Management (PSM) principles
- Capability to stand in one place for 30% of the shift (8 hours per day)
- Capability to walk throughout department for 70% of the shift (8 hours per day)
- Requires the frequent use of both hands and arms
- Requires the ability to lift overhead using both arms
- Capability to bend, twist, and squat as needed throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without reasonable assistance.
- Must be able to frequently push, pull, kneel, bend and reach
