Purchasing Agent

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager this position will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement and inventory management of raw materials, packaging, and other production-related supplies. This role is critical to maintaining uninterrupted production schedules and meeting our high standards for product quality and delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging; generate purchase orders as needed.

2. Work closely with vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, packaging, and ingredients.

3. Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

4. Create and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner

Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.

• Analyze usage trends and adjust material requirements accordingly to avoid overstock or shortages.
• Obtain price quotes from vendors and create price comparison reports for operations manager.
• Conduct cycle counts and inventory checks.
• Create reports and records of purchases and transmit them weekly to accounting personnel.
• Communicate changes in the use of materials to accounting personnel.
• Communicate changes in prices and or other significant information regarding materials and supplies to accounting personnel.
• Provide regular reports on inter-company transfers of materials and supplies to accounting office.
• Take weekly and monthly inventory and maintain records of inventories.
• Assist production and management personnel in reducing costs and preventing waste by providing information disclosed by inventory analysis.
• Conduct shipping and receiving.

14. Perform and maintain specified sanitation standards.

15. Assists in processing and production operations through performance of various duties and supply specified materials as required or as directed.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Detail oriented with organizational abilities.
• Ability to self direct.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Regularly required to stand; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects or tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

2. Regularly required to walk, sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

3. Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.

4. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and occasionally is exposed to wet and/or hot/humid conditions

2. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
