The Light/Medium Duty Mechanic performs inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered light- and medium-duty vehicles, including pickups, vans, box trucks, and commercial equipment. The mechanic ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer and company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance services (oil changes, filters, lubrication, inspections).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, steering, suspension, brake, and drivetrain issues.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel systems, and exhaust components.
- Service brake systems, wheel bearings, hubs, and suspension components.
- Perform tire mounting, balancing, rotations, flat repairs, and alignments.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including batteries, starters, alternators, and lighting.
- Use diagnostic scan tools and service information to identify faults.
- Complete work orders and accurately document repairs and parts used.
- Perform road tests to verify repairs when appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
- Must have Chauffeurs license
The Reefer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units to ensure reliable operation and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration systems, trailers, electrical components, and related equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair transport refrigeration units (Thermo King, Carrier, etc.).
- Perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems, including oil changes, filters, belts, and refrigerant checks.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical components.
- Repair A/C and refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, hoses, and fittings.
- Recover, evacuate, recharge, and leak-test refrigerant systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical wiring, sensors, controllers, alternators, starters, batteries, and lighting.
- Perform trailer repairs, including doors, seals, hinges, box rollers, lift gates, and structural components.
- Repair suspension, brakes, wheel ends, hubs, bearings, and air systems as needed.
- Complete inspections and document all repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Respond to emergency roadside or field service calls when required.
