What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Operating Officer (Operator, System Builder, Performance Owner) Miami, FL | Full-Time position at Diesel Pro Power Inc.?
Build a High-Performance Company
Diesel Pro Power is a global diesel parts company serving customers in 180 countries. We are a 100% e-commerce business with global reach, combining digital sales with inventory-driven operations.
We are a profitable, high-margin business with a clear next phase:
- Scale to $20M in revenue.
- Improve profitability and efficiency.
- Build a system-driven, low-dependency company.
- Position for a premium exit.
The foundation is in place — structure, systems, and direction are already established. Now we need the right person to run it, enforce it, and take it to the next level.0
This Is Not a Typical COO Role
This is not a manager role. This is not a coordinator role. This is an operator role. You will take ownership of execution across the company and be accountable for results.
Your Mission
Turn a well-structured business into a high-performance, system-run company.
- Systems are followed without exception.
- KPIs are achieved — not discussed.
- Problems are identified early and fixed fast.
- Execution is consistent across all departments.
What You Own
You are accountable for:
- Gross margin performance.
- Inventory efficiency (increase turns, reduce capital tied up).
- Sales execution discipline (100% CRM usage, no idle opportunities beyond 24 hours).
- Repeat revenue growth.
- KPI adherence across all departments.
- Operational consistency (no breakdowns, no silent failures).
You are measured by outcomes — not activity.
What You Will Do
Enforce Execution Hold team members accountable to results. Address issues directly and quickly. Eliminate inconsistency and drift.
Build Systems & Mechanisms Turn processes into enforced, repeatable systems. Design simple mechanisms that ensure follow-up happens, data is accurate, and execution is consistent. Reduce reliance on individuals.
Drive Performance Monitor margin, inventory, and sales performance. Identify gaps and fix them fast. Focus on actions that improve profitability and efficiency.
Align the Business Align purchasing, warehouse, sales, and finance. Ensure clean handoffs and accountability. Remove friction between teams.
Create Visibility Ensure clear, real-time reporting. Replace guesswork with data. Make performance visible.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days Systems are followed consistently. Sales follow-up discipline is enforced. KPI reporting is clear and trusted. The CEO is no longer managing day-to-day follow-ups.
6–12 Months The business consistently hits targets. Profitability improves. Inventory becomes more efficient. The company operates predictably and at a high level.
What We're Looking For
You have:
- Fixed execution in a messy or inconsistent business.
- Enforced accountability across multiple teams.
- Built or improved systems that actually get followed.
- Owned business outcomes — not just tasks.
- Experience in $5M–$50M companies strongly preferred.
- Experience in product-based, inventory-driven, or distribution businesses is highly preferred.
- Experience in automotive, diesel, parts, or similar industries is a plus — but not required.
Traits That Matter
- High ownership mindset.
- Relentless accountability.
- Comfortable with difficult conversations.
- Systems thinker.
- Action-oriented and disciplined.
- Understands the financial impact of decisions.
Authority
This role has real authority. You will enforce standards across all departments, hold team members accountable, and drive operational decisions. You are being hired to run execution.
The CEO defines direction and strategy. You own execution and performance.
Compensation & Benefits
- $130,000 – $150,000 base salary.
- Performance-based bonus tied to results, automation, and company growth.
- Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision.
- Life & AD&D insurance.
- PTO and company holidays.
- Additional TriNet benefits.
Why This Role Matters
This is an opportunity to take a real business and make it operate at a high level. You will build systems that actually work, create measurable impact, help scale a business with clear direction, and play a key role in building a high-value company.
Not a Fit If
- You avoid difficult conversations.
- You prefer managing over owning results.
- You need structure but don't enforce it.
- You rely on layers, process, or bureaucracy.
Before You Apply — Five Questions We Need You to Answer
We don't just want a resume. We want to know how you think and how you lead. Along with your resume, include a short cover letter answering the following questions. This is a prerequisite.
- Execution Ownership. Describe a situation where you took over a disorganized or inconsistent operation. What specifically did you change, and what were the measurable results?
- Metrics & Accountability. What metrics did you personally own in your last role? How did you track them, and how did you enforce accountability when targets were not met?
- System Building. Give an example of a system or process you built or improved that actually got followed. What made it work?
- Handling Underperformance. How do you handle team members who are not following systems or missing expectations? Give a real example.
- Operational Thinking. In an inventory-driven business, what are the most important metrics you would focus on and why?
Keep your answers concise — we value clarity over length. We're not looking for perfect — we're looking for honest and direct.
