About the Position
The Kitchen Assistant Manager supports the Kitchen Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Diemand Farm's commercial kitchen. This is a hands-on role that helps keep the kitchen running smoothly through planning, scheduling, delegating, and pitching in wherever needed.
We're looking for someone who values working within a family-run business and takes pride in producing wholesome, high-quality food for the community. This position is a great fit for someone looking to step away from the late-night restaurant schedule while continuing to build their leadership and kitchen management skills. Our hope is that the right person will grow into the Kitchen Manager role over time. You'll have the opportunity to learn every aspect of the kitchen and gradually take on more responsibility as you grow into the position.

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Kitchen Manager to oversee day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Plan, organize, and delegate daily tasks to keep production running efficiently and products in stock.
- Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff while fostering a respectful, accountable workplace.
- Assist with food preparation and step in wherever needed to keep production on schedule.
- Manage employee scheduling and provide coverage as needed.
- Coordinate catering orders, including planning, preparation, packaging, and ensuring orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Restock and rotate retail products daily; communicate production needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with food safety standards.
- Support customer service by answering questions and resolving concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience in a professional kitchen or food production setting
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to train, support, and hold team members accountable
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Experience
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
- Interest in or appreciation for local agriculture
- ServSafe and/or Allergen Awareness certification (a plus; employer-paid training available)

About Diemand Farm
Diemand Farm is a third-generation, family-run farm established in 1936 in Wendell, MA. We raise and process our own poultry (all-natural chicken and pasture-raised turkey), grass-fed beef, and cage-free eggs.
Our commercial kitchen produces a wide range of homestyle, ready-to-eat meals, sides, and desserts using our own farm-raised meats and other thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Everything is made, packaged, and stored right here on the farm and sold through our farm store and local wholesale partners, including co-ops and grocery stores.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
