The Laborer – Grounds Maintenance plays a key role in maintaining safe, functional, and professional federal facilities. This position supports daily site operations by ensuring grounds and exterior areas meet contract requirements, safety standards, and Didlake policies while contributing to a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
What You Will Do
- Perform day-to-day operations of the federal site grounds maintenance contract.
- Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties, including buildings, parks, airports, playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields, and greenhouses.
- Operate gasoline-powered and non-powered grounds maintenance and landscaping hand tools.
- Cut grass using walk-behind or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs).
- Trim hedges and edge around walkways, plant beds, and designated areas using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
- Operate spin trimmers (weed eaters).
- Prune shrubs and trees to improve appearance and healthy growth using hand tools.
- Apply fertilizer or insecticide to lawns, shrubs, and trees under the supervision of an authorized licensed supervisor.
- Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; cultivate and mulch planting beds.
- Water lawns and shrubs during dry periods using hoses or sprinkler systems.
- Remove leaves, litter, and debris by burning or carting away.
- Spread salt on walkways and other areas as required.
- Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
- Assist with repairs to roads, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and care of all assigned equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
- Meet performance standards through timely, accurate work and adherence to production schedules, Contract Statement of Work requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Education & Experience
- Minimum of three (3) months of experience operating small mowing equipment and/or landscaping hand tools (power or mechanical).
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain required credentials and background checks for facility access as required by the contract.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to learn the proper use and perform minor operator maintenance of routine grounds maintenance equipment.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment, reporting unsafe conditions, and stopping work when an imminent hazard exists.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Must have a valid Real ID for access to the work site.
