Health And Safety Coordinator

SUMMARY:

The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety programs across all our facilities. They must be proactive and willing to embrace a culture of accountability. This role involves conducting risk assessments, training staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and driving initiatives to enhance our safety culture.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Develop and Implement Health and Safety Programs
• Create, update, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of health and safety programs to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
• Regulatory Compliance
• Prepare and submit health and safety reports to regulatory bodies as specified by law and comply with customer expectations.
• Keep informed on latest developments and pending legislation relative to health and safety issues, standards, and regulations.
• Ensure corporate wide compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Serve as company interface with all federal/local governmental and insurance inspectors, participate in facility tours, and respond to notices and recommendations.
• Training and Development
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Foster a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness initiatives.
• Report all relevant EHS data to ISNetWorld.
• Employee Engagement and Communication
• Promote employee involvement by leading a safety committee and organizing regular meetings.
• Act as a point of contact for all health and safety-related matters including workers compensation and insurance claims.
• Communicate health and safety information effectively to all employees.
• Communicate with HR and management regarding issues pertaining to employee health and safety.
• Emergency Preparedness and Response
• Maintain corporate wide contingency plans, and coordinate requirements for all facilities.
• Coordinate and conduct regular emergency drills and training sessions.
• Health and Safety Audits
• Conduct regular health and safety audits and inspections of all facilities.
• Develop action plans to address any deficiencies and ensure continuous improvement.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field least two years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment.
• Or, at least 5 years of related occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment.

TRAVEL:

<10% or as needed.

BASIC SKILLS:

• Communicate effectively with all employees at all levels, vendors, and customers.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines.
• Capable of using various common health and safety tests and monitoring equipment.
• General knowledge of computers and software such as Microsoft products
• The ability to learn and become proficient in other computer programs as necessary.

MATHEMATICAL and REASONING SKILLS:

• Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpret and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
