What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hourly Assistant General Manager / FOH Manager position at DiBlasi's Food & Drink?
Hourly Assistant General Manager / FOH Manager
DiBlasi’s Food & Drink — Reading, MA
Full-Time Hourly
Expected Hours: 38–40 per week
DiBlasi’s Food & Drink is a new neighborhood restaurant and bar opening in Reading, MA, built around Italian-American comfort food, inspired cocktails, takeout, catering, and a welcoming community feel.
We are looking for a hands-on Assistant General Manager / FOH Manager to lead the front of house during service and help build the systems, standards, and team culture from the ground up.
This is an hourly leadership position. The ideal candidate is comfortable being both a floor leader and an active part of service — helping with guests, staff direction, takeout flow, bar coordination, closing procedures, and daily execution.
Our Chef/Operator will lead BOH and kitchen operations. Ownership will support business operations, marketing, sales, finance, and growth. The AGM / FOH Manager will be the primary person onsite responsible for making sure the dining room, bar, counter, and takeout operation run smoothly day to day.
What You’ll Do
Lead front-of-house service during scheduled shifts, including the dining room, bar, counter, pickup, phones, and delivery tablets.
Create a warm, professional, neighborhood-style guest experience.
Supervise servers, bartenders, runners, bussers, counter staff, and support staff during shifts.
Manage service flow, guest issues, takeout timing, bar seating, table turns, and staff communication.
Help train and coach FOH team members.
Own FOH opening, closing, bathroom, cleaning, and side-work standards.
Oversee shift checklists, cash handling, POS closeout, tip reporting, and end-of-night procedures.
Coordinate with BOH on specials, 86’d items, allergy communication, pacing, and ticket times.
Help maintain FOH supply pars, beverage stock, menus, signage, and service tools.
Monitor pickup, phones, and Uber Eats / delivery platform execution.
Support weekly scheduling, labor awareness, and staff communication.
Keep the restaurant clean, stocked, safe, organized, and inspection-ready.
Assist with private events, catering pickups, community nights, music/vinyl nights, and seasonal patio service.
Communicate clearly with ownership about staffing, guest feedback, repairs, service issues, and opportunities to improve.
What We’re Looking For
Restaurant FOH leadership experience, ideally as a shift lead, floor manager, service manager, bar manager, or assistant manager.
Strong hospitality instincts and the ability to make guests feel welcomed and known.
Comfort leading a small but busy restaurant with dine-in, bar, takeout, and delivery happening at the same time.
Ability to coach staff calmly and professionally during busy service.
Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
Experience with POS systems, cash handling, reservations/waitlists, and delivery tablets preferred.
Bar, beer, wine, or cocktail knowledge is a plus.
ServSafe, allergen awareness, TIPS, or alcohol-service training preferred, or willingness to complete required training.
Must be dependable, hands-on, and comfortable jumping in wherever needed.
Must be available nights and weekends, especially Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Schedule
This is a full-time hourly role. Expected schedule is approximately 38–40 hours per week, with overtime only when approved in advance or required by business needs.
Likely schedule includes:
- 5 shifts per week
- Primary coverage during dinner and peak service periods
- Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening availability required
- Some Sunday, lunch, patio-season, and event coverage as needed
Compensation
This is an hourly management position. Overtime will be handled according to applicable wage and hour laws.
Because this is a management/supervisory role, this position is not intended to be part of the tipped employee pool. Final compensation and structure will be based on experience, responsibilities, and applicable wage and tip-pooling rules.
