Job Title: Assistant Teacher Float
Location: Diave' Daye Child Development Center
Reports To: Lead Teacher and Center Director
Job Purpose:
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for
children. This role involves assisting with instruction, classroom management, daily routines, and ensuring compliance with
licensing standards. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in the developmental growth of children by supporting hands-
on learning and promoting positive social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Support & Instruction
o Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans.
o Facilitate small group or individual learning activities as directed.
o Model appropriate behavior and classroom expectations.
2. Child Supervision & Safety
o Actively supervise children at all times, including during transitions and outdoor play.
o Follow all safety and licensing procedures for child supervision, pick-up, and drop-off.
3. Daily Routines & Classroom Management
o Support hygiene routines including handwashing, diapering, and potty training.
o Help with meal/snack distribution and cleanup.
o Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment.
4. Family Communication
o Greet parents and guardians professionally during drop-off and pick-up.
o Communicate child behavior or incidents promptly to the Lead Teacher or Director.
5. Team Collaboration
o Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
o Provide support across classrooms as needed based on staffing or child ratios.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
CDA credential preferred or willingness to obtain within the first year.
Previous experience working with children (6 weeks to 12 years) is a plus.
CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire).
Must be able to lift 25-40 lbs and actively move throughout the classroom.
