Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, clipping, and styling according to breed standards and customer preferences
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s coat condition and skin health, providing recommendations for ongoing care or veterinary referral if necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming station by sanitizing tools and work areas regularly
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming requests and provide advice on pet care and maintenance
- Assist with pet handling during appointments, ensuring a calm environment for anxious or energetic dogs
- Keep detailed records of grooming services performed, special instructions, and pet behavior observations
Requirements
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of dog handling techniques
- Knowledge of dog training principles and veterinary experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods to ensure safe grooming sessions
- Background in veterinary technician or assistant roles, animal handling, or kennel work is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to handle large or heavy dogs safely
- Excellent customer service skills to build trust with pet owners and address their concerns professionally
