Dock Attendant

Location: Diamond Valley Marina – Hemet, CA

Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary

The Dock Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting marina operations, boat rentals, retail sales, and the safe use of recreational facilities. This position assists visitors with watercraft rentals, maintains marina facilities, performs routine maintenance, and helps create a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
• Assist customers with boat and watercraft rentals, including completing rental agreements.
• Provide guests with safety instructions and educate them on the proper operation of rental watercraft.
• Ensure guests are fitted with appropriate life jackets and follow all marina safety procedures.
• Meet returning boats, inspect vessels for damage, clean and refuel boats as needed.
• Assist customers with docking, launching, securing, and retrieving boats.
• Operate point-of-sale systems and accurately process cash and credit card transactions.
• Collect recreation use fees and maintain accurate cash handling records.
• Answer telephones and respond to customer questions regarding marina services and park information.
• Stock, organize, and maintain retail merchandise displays.
• Maintain administrative records, rental contracts, logs, and receipts.
• Perform daily inspections of docks and marina facilities to identify safety hazards.
• Report maintenance needs or damaged equipment to management.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance of docks, boats, rental equipment, marina buildings, and surrounding grounds.
• Assist with parking, boat ramp operations, and visitor flow during busy periods.
• Help ensure compliance with marina rules, safety policies, and U.S. Coast Guard guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to swim.
• Ability to safely board and exit watercraft.
• Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds or more.
• Basic math and cash-handling skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and peak visitation periods.
• Boating knowledge preferred.
• Valid California Driver's License preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment.
• Ability to work on docks, ramps, boats, and other uneven or wet surfaces.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, windy, or wet weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, move, and secure boats, motors, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
