Long Term Substitute Teacher

Duties

• Implement and adapt existing curriculum plans to meet the specific needs of students, ensuring alignment with school policies and educational standards
• Develop engaging lesson plans that promote active learning and critical thinking across subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement strategies and clear expectations to create a safe learning environment
• Utilize educational technologies and computers to enhance instruction and student engagement
• Communicate regularly with students’ families through parent-teacher conferences, emails, and phone calls to share progress and address concerns
• Collaborate with other teachers, specialists, and school staff to support student success and share best practices in instruction and classroom management
• Follow mandated reporting laws and school policies diligently to ensure student safety and compliance at all times

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children in classroom settings or childcare environments, including preschool or early childhood education
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, curriculum implementation, and instructional adaptability
• Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with special needs such as autism or requiring special education services
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques, behavior management strategies, and Montessori or preschool methodologies preferred
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students’ families
• Ability to utilize educational technologies and computers effectively in lesson delivery
• Knowledge of childhood development principles, literacy education, math instruction, and early childhood pedagogy
• Prior private school or Montessori experience is a plus; familiarity with mandated reporting laws and school policies is essential

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
