The foundation offers developmental and racing programs for skiers of all levels and abilities. Athlete tuition covers only part of operating costs, with the remainder funded through donors, sponsorships, fundraising events such as Ullr Fest, and hosted ski races at Diamond Peak Ski Resort. This community-supported model allows the organization to maintain high-quality coaching and accessible programs for a broad range of athletes.
Role Description The Ski Coach is a part-time, on-site role based in Incline Village, NV, working directly with athletes in developmental and racing programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and leading on-snow training sessions, teaching ski fundamentals and advanced techniques, and providing constructive feedback to support individual progress. The coach will model safe skiing practices, help set up and manage training environments and race courses, and monitor athlete readiness and equipment. Additional tasks may include communicating with families, collaborating with other coaches on seasonal training plans, and supporting foundation events, races, and fundraisers as needed. The role requires consistent presence during scheduled training times, race days, and selected off-snow meetings.
Qualifications
- Strong technical abilities in Skiing and experience applying these skills in varied terrain and conditions.
- Demonstrated Ski Instruction skills, including the ability to teach fundamentals and advanced techniques to different age groups and ability levels.
- Coaching and Training experience, with a focus on athlete development, goal setting, and performance improvement.
- Clear and respectful Communication skills for working with athletes, families, and coaching staff.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and risk management in alpine environments.
- Background in competitive skiing or race coaching is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work outdoors in all winter conditions and manage physical demands of coaching on snow.
- Relevant coaching certifications or ski instruction qualifications are a plus.
