Location: Montana

Compensation: $100,000 – $150,000 Base Full Benefits Package

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join a growing heavy civil contractor delivering infrastructure projects across Montana and the surrounding region. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for earthwork, underground utilities, roadway, drainage, and infrastructure projects while collaborating closely with operations, project management, and subcontractors.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who wants to work with a well-established contractor with a strong backlog of civil infrastructure work and long-term growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects
• Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope
• Perform quantity takeoffs for:
• Earthwork
• Underground utilities
• Drainage systems
• Roadway construction
• Concrete structures
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during project handoff
• Assist with budgeting, conceptual estimates, and change order pricing
  

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience estimating heavy civil or infrastructure construction projects
• Strong experience with earthwork, utilities, grading, and roadway construction
• Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
• Proficiency with estimating software (such as HeavyBid, HCSS, Bluebeam, Agtek, or similar)
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and production rates
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience estimating projects valued $5M – $100M
• DOT, municipal, or infrastructure project experience
• Knowledge of Montana or regional civil construction markets
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
