What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oiler position at Diamond Offshore?
Overview:

Responsibilities:
The Oiler will report to the Chief Engineer and will be responsible for operating and maintaining the engine room and other mechanical systems and equipment aboard the vessel.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Oiler may:
- Make hourly or other rounds as instructed of all machinery spaces and equipment
- Start/stop auxiliary machinery as directed by duty engineer
- Assist with lining up valves and lines for engine room systems
- Perform minor repairs/maintenance
- Keep engine room and other machinery spaces clean and oil free
- Maintain and operate main engines- change oil & air filters, maintain proper fluids, coolants and oils; and maintain main engine logs
- Check gauges, fluid levels, lubricants and report any problems to the mechanic
- Ensure the fuel and oil transfers from work boats are performed safely using procedures and guidelines set forth by Diamond Offshore
- Perform housekeeping duties in and around the engine room
- Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs and in pre-tour weekly safety meetings
- Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S)
- Perform other duties as directed
Qualifications:
Basic
- At least 18 years of age
- Possess or able to obtain a valid Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC). Any candidate selected for this position will not be allowed to begin work without a card in hand or proof from the TSA of a card "In Production" or "In Transit." - Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- Possess Merchant Mariner's Document (Z-card) with QMED endorsement
- 2 or more years’ experience in a maritime or offshore drilling vessel
- 2 or more years of direct maintenance experience with fixed and rotating equipment
Preferred
- Possess High School Diploma / GED or higher
- Related vocational school certificate or higher
- Possess or able to obtain a valid passport
