The IT Manager is both a strategic and hands-on IT leader who is responsible for the build-out, improvement, maintenance and administration of the company’s IT systems, including networks, employee devices, applications, policies, overall capability, security, availability and reliability.
This role provides the full range of IT operational functions to the freight terminals and company offices for the organization’s hardware, software, and voice/data network solutions while also performing local administration and management functions. This role will set and manage appropriate standards, policies and procedures.
This role reports to Senior Leadership and partners with the functional leaders to determine technology strategy, and to innovate and drive continuous improvement enabled by IT solutions.
Major Accountabilities
- Provides IT infrastructure strategy, build-out and management.
- Serves as the technical and communications liaison to stakeholders and key users for IT communications, initiatives, needs assessments.
- Works with functional teams to propose technology-based solutions where appropriate. Leads the selection and implementation of these solutions.
- Supports existing IT solutions day-to-day and drives improvements.
- Responsible for procurement, installation and life-cycle maintenance of IT hardware and software.
- Responsible for IT vendor, contract, license and outsourcing management.
- Leads small in-house IT team. Builds and manages an effective IT organization.
- Serves as the IT point of contact and is accountable for managing the IT portion of new location setups, expansions, etc. This includes relocation and/or installation of voice/data communications solutions, LAN and PC equipment.
- Develops and monitors security compliance as well as IT standards, policies and procedures.
- Develops, gains approval for and manages a budget to accomplish goals.
- Deliver results with minimal supervision in an accurate and timely manner.
- BS/MS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent discipline.
- 5 years supporting multi-location enterprise environment.
- Strong experience in a mid-size enterprise
- Familiar with enterprise software including on prem, host, cloud, and SaaS.
- Familiar with software development principles and basics of programming and web development.
- Familiar with infrastructure, hardware and mobile devices.
- Familiar with networking, security, file sharing, and application servers.
- Familiar with TMS systems
- Experience with transportation and logistics (preferred).
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident status.
