Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Life Enrichment Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and long-term care community. This role involves planning and facilitating recreational activities, supporting residents' social and emotional well-being, and working closely with staff to create a vibrant, inclusive environment. Experience in senior care, recreational therapy, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including social events, games, arts and crafts, music therapy, and outings.
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, grooming, and other personal care tasks when needed.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being by engaging them in meaningful conversations and encouraging participation in group activities.
- Manage activity schedules to ensure a balanced program that promotes social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to monitor residents’ health status and adapt activities accordingly for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Provide counseling on aging issues and assist with memory care strategies to enhance residents’ quality of life.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation in activities and communicate progress or concerns to the care team.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that promotes independence while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Skills
- Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and caregiving best practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents of varying cognitive levels and abilities.
- Ability to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) while maintaining dignity and respect for residents.
- Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities throughout the day.
- Compassionate approach with experience working with people with disabilities or in long-term care settings.
- Skills in aging issues counseling and understanding of social work principles related to elder populations.
