Position Summary
The Elementary Music Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students in grades K–5. The teacher fosters a love of music, develops foundational musical skills, and supports students’ creative expression through singing, movement, instruments, and performance opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum
- Develop and implement standards-based music lessons aligned with state and district curriculum guidelines.
- Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, tempo, dynamics, music literacy, and cultural awareness.
- Integrate singing, movement, classroom instruments, and music technology into daily instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Incorporate multicultural and cross-curricular connections into lessons.
Assessment & Student Growth
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with families.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and performance participation.
Performances & Programs
- Plan, organize, and direct grade-level performances and school-wide music programs.
- Prepare students for concerts and special events.
- Collaborate with school staff to support assemblies and community events.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Manage inventory, care, and maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.
- Follow district policies and procedures.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to enhance student learning.
- Stay current with best practices in music education.

Requirements:
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Music (K–5 or appropriate grade levels).
- Knowledge of child development and elementary instructional strategies.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching elementary music.
- Experience directing student performances or choirs.
- Familiarity with music technology and digital learning tools.
- Orff, Kodály, or Dalcroze training.
Salary : $60,000 - $85,000
