Full-Time | Utility Construction | Underground Utilities
Diamond C Plumbing & Utilities is hiring an experienced Utility Crew Member / Equipment Operator to join our underground utility construction team. We install water, sewer, and storm drain systems throughout Paris, TX and surrounding areas.
IMPORTANT: If you do NOT have underground utility work experience, your resume will NOT be reviewed.
Position Overview
This is a hands-on field role requiring strong equipment operating skills, safe work habits, and experience working around live utilities. You will assist with installation, repair, excavation, trenching, grading, and daily jobsite operations.
Duties
- Operate excavators, mini-excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, etc.
- Perform precision excavation around existing utilities
- Install & repair water, sewer, and storm drain systems
- Excavate trenches to proper depth, width, line, and grade
- Set trench boxes and assist with shoring
- Load/unload pipe, fittings, structures, and materials
- Backfill, compact, and perform finish grading
- Read and follow plans, cut sheets, grade stakes, and utility locates
- Communicate with supervisors, inspectors, and crew members
- Perform daily equipment inspections
- Assist with general labor tasks as needed
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting, climbing structures safely, manual handling of materials, and working in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to high voltage electrical work, underground utility detection, construction site safety standards, and emergency response procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Utility construction experience REQUIRED
- 1 year minimum operating equipment on utility projects
- Ability to trench to line and grade
- Experience working around live gas, electric, fiber, water, and sewer utilities
- Ability to read plans and cut sheets
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL preferred
- OSHA / Competent Person certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Work outdoors in all weather
- Lift 50 lbs with assistance
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb
- Work safely around heavy equipment and trenches

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
