Position Overview:The Reading Fightin Phils internship is a great learning experience for upperclassmen and recent college graduates who want hands-on experience in Minor League Baseball. The Accounting Intern will support the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position provides an opportunity to gain practical accounting experience while developing an understanding of the financial operations of a Minor League Baseball organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily and weekly accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Participate in game day cash room operations, including cash handling and reconciliation procedures
• Assist with reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts and identifying discrepancies
• Prepare financial analyses and reports to support accounting activities and business operations
• Maintain schedules and supporting documentation related to revenue and expenses, including team travel and sponsorships
• Review and record daily bank transactions and report any discrepancies
• Assist with preparing accurate and timely internal and external financial reports
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with other departments to support financial reporting and accounting needs
• Assist front office staff with other tasks as they arise
• Shadow and learn about other departments
• Perform all job tasks in compliance with the philosophy, policies, goals, and budget of the Reading Fightin Phils

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; relevant accounting coursework or practical experience preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with employees across all departments and levels of the organization
• Team-minded, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a group
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, including home games as needed
