What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dump Truck Driver/Equipment Operator position at Diamond Arrow Land Management LLC?
CDL Dump Truck Driver / Equipment Operator
Company Overview
Diamond Arrow Land Management is a small, locally owned excavation and land-management company serving the Roaring Fork Valley. Our work includes excavation, grading, driveway construction and repair, material hauling, utility trenching, drainage improvements, fire mitigation, land clearing, tree work, and ranch and property improvement projects.
We are looking for a reliable CDL dump-truck driver who wants flexible hours and the opportunity to grow with our company. Driving the dump truck will be the primary responsibility. Heavy-equipment experience is a strong bonus, but it is not required for the right driver.
Because we are a small and growing company, this position is a good fit for someone who is versatile, communicates well, takes initiative, and is willing to help wherever needed. Scheduling can be flexible based on our workload and the employee’s availability; however, dependability and clear communication are essential once a schedule has been agreed upon.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a dump truck to haul dirt, gravel, road base, debris, green waste, and other materials.
- Complete local deliveries and hauling assignments between job sites, gravel pits, disposal facilities, and customer properties.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain required driving and vehicle records.
- Keep the truck clean, organized, greased, and properly maintained.
- Identify mechanical or safety concerns and communicate them before they become larger problems.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and dump materials in varying job-site conditions.
- Coordinate with equipment operators, laborers, customers, and suppliers.
- Assist with general job-site work when the truck is not actively hauling.
- Operate excavators, track loaders, skid steers, or other equipment when qualified and needed.
- Follow all DOT requirements, traffic laws, job-site rules, and company safety procedures.
- Represent Diamond Arrow Land Management professionally with customers and the public.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL preferred; experienced Class B CDL drivers are also encouraged to apply.
- Must be qualified to operate air-brake and manual-transmission vehicles without applicable CDL restrictions.
- Clean and insurable driving record.
- Valid DOT medical card.
- Previous dump-truck or commercial-driving experience preferred.
- Experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, or other heavy equipment is a strong bonus.
- Experience with excavation, dirt work, grading, forestry, tree work, fire mitigation, or utility installation is helpful.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to recognize equipment problems.
- Ability to work independently, follow directions, and communicate clearly.
- Willingness to assist with physical job-site work when necessary.
- Strong attention to safety, equipment care, and customer property.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to communicate in advance if availability changes.
Opportunity for Growth
We are looking for more than someone who simply drives from one location to another. We want someone who takes pride in the truck, the equipment, and the finished work. As Diamond Arrow Land Management continues to grow, there will be opportunities for the right person to take on additional equipment operation, job-site responsibility, crew leadership, and a larger role within the company.
Employees who show initiative, take ownership, and consistently follow through will have the greatest opportunity to grow with us.
Compensation and scheduling will be based on experience, qualifications, availability, and the responsibilities the employee is capable of taking on.
To apply, please submit your résumé or a brief description of your CDL, driving experience, equipment experience, and current availability.
