Histology Laboratory Assistant

Diagnostic Pathology Medical Group, Inc (DPMG) in Reno, NV seeks to hire a fulltime histology laboratory assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Packages and sends slides to pathologists at various locations
• Runs the H&E stainers
• Receives and loads cassettes onto tissue processors
• Prints laboratory orders for recuts, levels, special stains and immunoperoxidase
• Pulls and files surgical, research, forensic and autopsy paraffin blocks and slides
• Performs equipment maintenance and quality control
• Answers phone calls utilizing efficient interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent telephone and customer service skills and etiquette
• Manages time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Exhibits attention to detail and a strong work ethic
• Participates as a Team Member to ensure the smooth operation of the entire department

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Medical terminology is a plus but not required

Qualifications:

• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to work independently in a fast paced, high volume laboratory
• Must have the ability to multitask

Hours:

• Full Time; Monday - Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
