We are seeking two (2) highly skilled, senior-level Tool Makers to join our team. This role is responsible for the design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision tooling used in CNC machining, Hot/Cold Forging, Thread Rolling, and Centerless Grinding operations. This position is ideal for a self-starting professional who is mathematically inclined, possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, and maintains a commitment to exacting dimensional standards within the Aerospace sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Tool Fabrication & Repair: Design, build, and modify dies, fixtures, jigs, and gauges to exact tolerances based on blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Precision Machining: Operate manual toolroom equipment, including lathes, mills, and surface grinders, to manufacture high-quality tooling components.
- Quality Measurement: Utilize micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to verify dimensional accuracy, applying GD&T and shop math (geometry/trigonometry) daily.
- Operational Support: Troubleshoot worn or damaged tooling and perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to recommend design improvements and material changes to enhance tool life and efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure all work meets AS9100 standards and maintain detailed records of tooling revisions and repairs.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of experience as a Tool Maker or Precision Tooling Specialist in a manufacturing environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in Aerospace or high-precision industries is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and manual machining equipment.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Strong ability in shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on craftsmanship.
- Education: High school diploma required; technical certification or Associate degree in Tooling/Machining preferred.
