Diabetes and Nutrition Education Contractors

BASIC FUNCTION: Come Grow with Us! The Diabetes Association of Atlanta (DAA) is experiencing phenomenal growth in response to the community needs and gap in nutrition and diabetes education. We invite you to join our team as a Contract Diabetes and Nutrition Educator. You will provide diabetes and nutrition education for all ages through virtual and in-person platforms.

Compensation: Between $50 and $100/hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Provide instruction and teaching on nutrition education overviews focused on diabetes prevention and management for patients from corporations, community partners, physicians and clinics
• Provide instruction for the requirements of the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program
• Provide assessment, teaching and follow-up instruction to program participants
• Collaborate with Development Team to implement and carry out grant objectives
• Participates in orientation and continuing education for education program
• Coordinates CQI (continuous quality improvement) with collaboration from other staff
• Be willing to travel within metro Atlanta for short presentations during the weekday and some Saturdays

QUALIFICATIONS:

• CDE preferred
• RN, RD, PharmD, or MD with current GA license/registration
• Dynamic and engaging presenter with the ability to connect with audience
• Proficiency with social media and online educational tools preferred
• Minimum 3 years background in nutrition education preferred
• Minimum 3 years background in diabetes education preferred
• Minimum one year program management experience
• Strong skills in working with underserved communities, leadership, communication and education
• Willing to travel within agency’s service area (Atlanta Metropolitan area)
• Available during weekday work hours and some evenings and Saturdays
