A busy diabetes & endocrinology practice located in the Columbus (Dublin); Ohio area is looking for a full time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to work in a fast-paced endocrine office. The ideal MA candidate will have clinical office experience (at least a year) and working knowledge of an electronic medical record. Medical Assistants must be organized, flexible and agile based on the needs of the patient population and the practice. The CMA must be able to work as a team member in a collaborative environment. Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Perform nursing procedures including but not limited to, injections, taking vitals, drawing blood, medication teachings, glucose sensor placements, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to discuss medication conditions with patients and clinical staff
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patient, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, documenting all information into patient’s chart
  • Ensure all related reports, labs, and other critical information is scanned and documented in patient’s chart prior to their appointment
  • Keep exam rooms fully stocked with adequate medical supplies
  • Perform basic laboratory tests; drawing blood; administering medications as directed by physicians and physician assistants
  • Transmitting prescription refills as directed, completing all supporting documents
  • Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Communicate effectively with clinic staff about the need of the patient and concerns or questions they may have
  • Engage patients with a warm and welcoming demeanor

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Operating a multi-line phone system
  • Medical coding and filling out insurance forms
  • Scheduling patients for appointments (including specialty tests; MRI’s CT scans, etc.) and verifying address and insurance information
  • Assist patients in completing medication assistance paperwork
  • Collecting co-pays and account balances
  • Ability to complete Prior Authorizations

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum one year of experience as a medical assistant
  • High School diploma, College preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of an Electronic Medical Record
  • A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope
