Line Cook
The Line Cook will play a key role in supporting the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest quality food preparation and presentation. This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
We are looking for a professional line cook who will execute and oversee breakfast for 20-40 guests in the mornings and/ or evenings. In addition to preparing breakfast and/ or dinner, this cook will also begin the prep work for the rest of the day's meal services. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and working well within our team.
If you don't have extensive experience working in a kitchen but are a hard worker with a good attitude we are happy to train you and help you develop a new skill set. Must have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry's best practices
- Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Maintain inventory and assist with ordering and supplier management.
- Collaborate on the development of new recipes and seasonal menus.
- Monitor food quality and presentation standards, ensuring consistency.
- Help with menu cost and pricing
- Managing food resources efficiently
- Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Manage and run events and banquets
Qualifications
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
