POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transplant Manager is responsible for the overall operational, clinical, and regulatory management of the transplant program. This role provides leadership to nurse coordinators and multidisciplinary team members, ensures regulatory compliance, drives performance in quality outcomes, patient experience and program growth.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
- Master’s Degree (MSN, MHA, MBA or related) preferred
- Current RN licensure in the State of Texas or Compact state required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Professional certification preferred.
- Bilingual- English/Spanish preferred
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :
· Minimum of three (3) years of transplant experience required
· Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or management experience preferred
· Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) preferred
· Strong leadership and operational management skills
· In-depth knowledge of transplant regulations (UNOS/OPTN, CMS)
· Data-driven decision-making and quality improvement abilities
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to mentor, lead, and develop team members for improved functioning and effectiveness
· Ability to manage complex, high-acuity clinical programs
Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage a caseload of patients with end-stage organ disease and/or living donors in various stages the transplant process and in varying levels of complexity. Participate in the multidisciplinary patient care team, collaborating with physicians, surgeons, advanced practice providers, social workers, pharmacists, financial coordinators, nursing personnel, and other health disciplines to coordinate the entire transplant process. Provides education to transplant candidates, recipients, caregivers, and living donors. Provides continuity of care between inpatient admissions and outpatient visits.
· Supervise and support transplant coordinators to ensure regulatory compliance, efficiency, and high quality patient-centered care.
· Manage clinical and administrative staff including coordinators, support staff, and ancillary roles.
· Provide onboarding, training, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff.
· Participate in development of program strategy and growth.
· Manage productivity and ensure appropriate resource allocation
· Ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care across transplant continuum
· Support complex clinical decision-making and serve as escalation resource
· Collaborates with all parties involved to provide the most cost-effective and appropriate care to patients.
· Systematically ensures that all plans of care are congruent with patients’ needs and in alignment with best practices.
· Ensure the quality of the care provided demonstrates compassion and a strong awareness of resource optimization.
· Maintain current knowledge of UNOS/OPTN policies.
· Ensure compliance with UNOS/OPTN, CMS Conditions of Participation, and other regulatory bodies.
· Maintain department readiness for audits, site surveys, and inspections.
· Oversee accurate and timely data submission.
· Address variances in outcomes and implement corrective strategies.
· Manage program budgets while monitoring financial performance and cost efficiency
· Lead process improvement and quality initiatives.
· Ensure policies and procedures are current and followed.
· Monitor department performance metrics.
· Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
· Foster culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration.
· Provide in-service for nursing staff and presentations for any outside organization or groups.
· Identify growth opportunities and support outreach and referral development strategies.
· Performs on-call and other duties as assigned.

B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
