Summary : POSITION SUMMARY :

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department to include enforcing company policies and practices.

POSITION EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Associate's / Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of human resource-related experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required
  • Advanced computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Must have excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Some evening or weekend work will be required
  • Bilingual; English / Spanish preferred

JOB KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum of one (1) year of HR Generalist experience preferred
  • Hospital, healthcare, or related experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Requires reasoning ability, good independent judgment, attention to detail and a high degree of competency.

  • Able to respond to general internal and external customer needs independently.
  • Requires good communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Must have computer skills and the ability to learn HRIS, payroll, and time and attendance systems
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment regulations.
  • Responsibilities :

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITES :

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision, and values in developing policies, and practices.
  • Consult and attend meetings with HR Business Partners and respective service line directors, managers, and / or supervisors when needed for special projects.
  • Consult with the Sr. HR Business Partner / HR Director to provide HR guidance as applicable.
  • Responsible for conducting new employee orientation.
  • Assist with onboarding and special projects as assigned or needed.
  • Assist in performing all status changes, terminations, (PARS), and all service lines.
  • Responsible for responding to all unemployment insurance claims from Texas Workforce Commission.
  • Maintain licenses and certifications to ensure all required are up to date. Send monthly license and certification reports to Directors, Managers, Supervisors etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Allied Health Professional contract files and database to include licenses and certifications.
  • Assist directors, managers / supervisors by being a witness at employee meetings as needed.
  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing employee files in preparation for designated audits from accrediting agencies such as but not limited to TJC, CAP, CARF, etc.
  • Must familiarize themselves with DHR Health policies and procedures and be able to provide guidance and interpretation if needed.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE :

    Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including : Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Service.

    AGE SPECIFIC :

    Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his / her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age.

  • B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his / her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
  • C. Occupational Exposure : This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
