Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Breast Compliance Coordinator will assist the Radiology Management Team with regulatory and compliance at all facilities performing breast imaging. The Breast Compliance Coordinator will assist with the compliance of all MQSA requirements, JCAHO standards, TDH standards and accreditations. The Breast Compliance Coordinator will actively participate with Performance Improvement projects and communicate necessary information to Radiology Management.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
  • Current state certification (i.e. Texas Medical Board) required.
  • Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification required.
  • American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Mammography certification required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • American Heart Association ACLS and PALS recommended.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
  • Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Requires good verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required. Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
  • Computer knowledge required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :

  • Three – Five (3-5 ) years of experience in a healthcare setting as a Mammography Technologist preferred.
  • At least two ( 3 ) years of experience in a supervisory position preferred.
  • At least two ( 2 ) years of experience in stereotactic biopsy and breast interventional procedures preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with multiple modalities.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to closely follow established procedures.
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Requires working with frequent interruptions.
  • Must project a professional image.

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
  • Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.
  • Responsible for training technologists with Quality Control protocols.
  • Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Joint Commission (JC) and any other accreditation standards.
  • Maintain Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), including but not limited to personnel requirements, equipment, medical records and mammography reports, quality assurance, mammography medical outcomes audit, and certification.
  • Measure, review and enforce compliance protocols and regulations.
  • Responsible for audits and inspections.
  • Represent and participate in appropriate hospital committee activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure deliver of quality services.
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography and bone density exams when needed.
  • Recommends changes in department policies and procedures to Radiology Management.
  • Ability to effectively delegate, multi-task, prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Performs quality control tests and maintains the standards of equipment operation.
  • Assists with quality improvement initiatives, including continued training.
  • Responsible for new employee orientation.
  • Complete and update all employment requirements, including hospital continuing education, Employee Health, and Radiology Competencies, Credentials, etc.
  • Leads in a way which motivates employees.

B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
