Duties
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all protocol related functions for the senior Department of the Army leadership
  • Work independently, for assigned activities to conceptualize, plan, coordinate, and execute high level military and civilian, foreign and domestic visits/functions, ceremonies and special events hosted by senior Department of Army leadership
  • Conceptualize, plan, coordinate, and execute administrative and protocol details of the Executive Office of the Headquarters Conference Program
  • Respond to requests for advice/assistance in all matters/activities relative to proper protocol procedures
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Army-Wide protocol policy
Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-13- One year of specialized experience which includes planning and executing all protocol aspects of visits and special ceremonies of high-ranking dignitaries; conducting formal and informal briefings, and/or advising on proper protocol procedures; providing recommendations and assisting in the establishment of an effective protocol policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
