What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content and Public Relations Specialist position at dgs Marketing Engineers?
Content and Public Relations Specialist
The dgs Marketing Engineers’ team influences every product you see and touch. We are a full-service, award-winning global communications agency with more than 39 years of results-driven experience for clients across North America and worldwide. With three of our key focus areas (culture, talent, clients) in mind, we are adding a Content and Public Relations Specialist to our content and public relations team.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- Tested and proven – You’ve reached the point where you have several wins under your belt to demonstrate your abilities. A big plus if you have relevant experience as copywriter in an advertising agency and/or manufacturing industry trade publication.
- Cool under pressure - You know you can handle whatever comes your way and can ably manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities without batting an eye when the unexpected happens.
- A strategic thinker - You’re able to assimilate industry trends, competitive intelligence, corporate identity parameters, and current marketing plan objectives and strategy as foundations for your writing.
- Dedicated to details - You leave conversations and meetings with everything you need to outline what needs to happen next, and if someone needs something you have, you always know exactly where to find it.
- A gifted communicator - You are confident in your ability to clearly communicate your thought processes and concepts, whether you’re writing content, delivering pitches or collaborating with colleagues.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Translating complexity into clarity – You’ll distill highly technical, complex and industry-specific information into engaging, accessible communications. Whether developing articles, press materials or web content, you’ll transform intricate details into clear, persuasive stories that connect with diverse audiences.
- Finding and shaping the story – You’ll recognize information gaps, identify what’s missing, and uncover the strongest angle for each piece. With a natural curiosity and editorial instinct, you’ll know how to draw out insights that make technical subjects human, relevant, and compelling. You’ll proactively suggest stories and angles that support client objectives.
- Collaborating and researching with confidence – You’ll conduct interviews with engineers, executives and subject-matter experts to extract meaningful content. You’ll research diligently to ensure accuracy and credibility, becoming a knowledgeable resource in the industries we serve.
- Writing and refining with precision – You’ll craft clear, accurate, and polished copy that adheres to AP Style and agency standards. From proofreading to final review, you’ll maintain an unwavering commitment to quality, consistency, and tone.
- Supporting communications excellence – You’ll contribute to media relations, thought leadership and client storytelling efforts that elevate visibility and reinforce strategic goals. You’ll bring structure, professionalism, and care to every deliverable, helping ensure that our communications reflect the highest standard of the agency.
And last, but certainly not least, once you’re here, you’ll love that we’re:
- Rooted in experience, energized by new ideas - We’ve been in the business since 1986, but we maintain a culture and focus that continues to evolve and expand.
- Committed to employee growth - Our leadership team possesses more than 100 years of collective experience in public relations and marketing communications, experience they’re eager to share to ensure the continuous growth of our team.
- A frankly phenomenal team - We come from diverse backgrounds, have a wide range of personalities, and excel in supporting one another to achieve outstanding results.
- Employee-centric - What’s important to our team members is important to our management and you’ll see that reflected in transparent communication and our approach to constant improvement.
- Generous with benefits - We offer health and life insurance, competitive pay, generous PTO, 401k contributions, a flexible schedule, paid holidays, plus a week of vacation for the winter holidays and more.
