Receiving / Shipping Clerk

A Shipping/Receiving Clerk at a chicken processing plant is responsible for coordinating the flow of poultry products in and out of the facility, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with company and food industry standards.

 Core Responsibilities

• Shipping duties

  • Prepare and verify outgoing orders of poultry products

  • Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation (bills of lading, invoices, shipping manifests)

  • Schedule and coordinate with carriers and drivers for timely pickups

  • Load trucks safely, often using forklifts or pallet jacks

• Receiving duties

  • Unload incoming deliveries (supplies, feed, packaging materials, etc.)

  • Inspect shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with food safety standards

  • Record and store materials in designated areas

  • Maintain inventory logs and update tracking systems

• Compliance and safety

  • Follow USDA, OSHA, and company food safety regulations

  • Maintain clean and organized shipping/receiving areas

  • Use PPE and enforce biosecurity measures to prevent contamination

  • Job Requirements: 

    • High School Diploma or GEDrequired.
    • 1 years Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse experience.
    • Must be 18 years old
    • Must have the ability to learn and process informationin a timely manner
    • Must have effective communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to work well with others
    • Must understand the basic shipping process
    • Musthave the ability to train others.
    • Must be able to work in a cooler (sometimes as low as 28 degrees)
    • Communicate with CFS when problems arise with scanner or inventory program.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
      
    • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in a cold and wet environment.
    • Ability to work in an office environment.
    • Ability to lift and maneuver up to30pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
