Range Safety Officer (RSO)
Schedule: M–F 1:00 pm–8:30 pm · Sat–Sun 11:00 am–8:30 pm
The Range Safety Officer is central to safe range operations and to delivering a fun, professional experience for guests and Members.
What you’ll do
- Safety oversight: Monitor every lane for muzzle discipline, trigger-finger discipline, and adherence to all range rules and policies; intervene and coach when needed.
- Guest service: Greet shooters, answer questions, and set clear expectations so everyone has a safe, enjoyable session.
- Rule enforcement: Promptly correct unsafe behavior and document incidents in accordance with company policy.
- Lane management: Assign lanes, assist with target carriers, and help resolve minor equipment or shooter issues.
- Facility care: Perform daily cleaning, brass and trash removal, and basic upkeep to keep the range in top condition.
- Reporting: Document and escalate any damage, malfunctions, or safety concerns; complete shift logs accurately.
- Emergency readiness: Know and execute emergency response plans; communicate calmly and decisively.
- Education: Reinforce range rules and firearm-handling best practices with new and experienced shooters.
What you bring
- Solid firearms-handling skills (pistols, revolvers, rifles, and shotguns); 2 years experience preferred.
- Prior military, law-enforcement, or range experience a plus (not required).
- Excellent verbal communication; confident, courteous, and professional under pressure.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and legally able to possess a firearm.
- 21 years of age and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Working conditions & compliance
- Stand/walk for extended periods; lift/move up to ~50 lbs with proper technique.
- PPE required (eye/ear protection; additional PPE as directed).
- Lead-safety: Post-offer, pre-placement baseline blood-lead test and periodic testing; follow all OSHA lead-exposure and housekeeping procedures.
- Adhere to all company SOPs, emergency protocols, and documentation standards.
