Position Overview

DFM Arms is seeking a dependable and hands-on Injection Molding Process Technician to support daily production operations. This role is responsible for mold setup, machine startup and shutdown, maintaining established processes, and making basic process adjustments to keep parts running to specification.

This is a mid-level role suited for someone who understands injection molding and can work independently, but will also collaborate closely with production and quality teams to keep jobs running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Mold Setup & Changeovers

• Perform mold setups and changeovers on injection molding machines (60T–450T)
• Install molds and properly connect water lines, electrical, and auxiliary equipment
• Mix and dry material
• Verify mold functionality and safe operation before startup
• Execute timely and organized changeovers to support production schedules

Machine Startup & Process Maintenance

• Start up jobs using established setup sheets and process parameters
• Monitor machines during startup to ensure stable operation
• Maintain and adjust processes to keep parts within quality standards
• Shut down machines and molds properly at end of runs

Basic Processing & Adjustments

• Make routine process adjustments such as:
• Injection speed and pressure
• Pack/hold adjustments
• Temperature and cooling time changes
• Identify common molding issues and make corrections to maintain part quality
• Escalate more complex processing issues as needed

Troubleshooting & Production Support

• Troubleshoot common defects such as:
• Short shots
• Flash
• Splay
• Minor dimensional variation
• Work directly with machine operators to resolve issues on the floor
• Support production to minimize downtime and scrap

Quality & Team Collaboration

• Oversee production employees for 5 hours of shift
• Work closely with quality team to ensure parts meet specifications
• Perform basic checks to verify part quality during startup and production
• Communicate issues clearly with supervisors and team members

General Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Assist in other production or shop tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required

• 1–3 years of injection molding experience (setup, processing, or similar role)
• Basic understanding of injection molding machines and processes
• Ability to perform mold setups and start jobs with minimal supervision
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred

• Experience with mold changeovers and water hookups
• Familiarity with common molding defects and how to correct them
• Experience working in a production manufacturing environment
• Basic understanding of measurements and part quality requirements
