We are looking for a Technical Sales Representative to join our team in Elmhurst, Illinois and help support customer growth, technical problem solving, and business development across our operating platform.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for developing and expanding the customer base across assigned territories while supporting existing customers through technical expertise, responsive service, and relationship development. This role combines field-based technical sales with consultative customer support and acts as a liaison between customers and DFC Manufacturing Group operations.
The Technical Sales Representative helps document customer requirements, review tooling performance, support technical problem solving, and identify opportunities to improve customer manufacturing processes. This role also supports broader cross-divisional sales opportunities across DFC Manufacturing Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and grow customer relationships within assigned territories
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities while strengthening the existing customer base
- Serve as a key point of contact for customer communication regarding technical requirements, order expectations, and product applications
- Act as a technical liaison between customers and DFC operating companies
- Travel to customer sites for scheduled meetings, product reviews, technical support, and application-related support as needed
- Consult with customers to understand operational needs and recommend effective tooling and product solutions
- Collaborate with internal design, estimating, production, logistics, and customer service teams to support accurate order execution and on-time delivery
- Prepare quotations and support the order process from initiation through delivery
- Train customer personnel on tooling features, product use, setup considerations, and best practices as needed
- Review product and tooling performance with internal technical teams and customers to support continuous improvement
- Maintain thorough customer visit reports, call logs, and related documentation
- Attend trade shows, customer events, and industry networking opportunities to represent DFC Manufacturing Group and expand business opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical, mechanical, printing, packaging, or business-related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in technical sales, technical support, production, or customer-facing manufacturing roles preferred
- Experience in packaging, printing, converting, die cutting, tooling, or related manufacturing industries strongly preferred
- Proven ability to build customer relationships and grow business opportunities
- Ability to interpret drawings, layouts, blueprints, and customer specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create customer visit reports and deliver technical presentations
- Working knowledge of ERP/order-entry systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and related business software
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required

- Office and plant-floor exposure depending on customer and business needs
