Job Description
The Medium/High Voltage Lineman installs, maintains, and repairs the electrical distribution and transmission lines that carry power from generation sources at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions
- Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground medium to high voltage power lines, transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
- String wire conductors, set utility poles, and erect transmission towers using specialized heavy machinery (e.g., bucket trucks, digger derricks, and cranes).
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components to identify problems, clear faulty circuits, and locate cable faults.
- Work on-call schedules and respond immediately to power outages and emergencies caused by inclement weather or equipment failure.
- Attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards and clear away tree branches or hazards near energized, live power installations
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Medium or High Voltage linesman
- Must have Journeyman Lineman experience
- Class B CDL
- Must submit licenses with resume
- Emergency response is a core part of this position, as such, the individual must be able to respond to emergency situations and be able to work on Holidays and weekends
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs), climb utility poles and towers, and work in cramped, elevated, or confined spaces.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be able to pass a government background check
