Job Description
The Chief Engineer responsible for all working matters under the operations and maintenance of building systems at CMI’s customer site in Culpeper, VA.
Key Job Functions
- Responsible for the building’s systems including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and supervision of technicians.
- Performs Preventive Maintenance tasks involving keeping equipment in good working order to reduce downtime and prevent breakdowns.
- Shall be onsite in a full-time capacity and on-call to respond to emergencies.
- The Chief Engineer must possess at a minimum five (5) years of experience within the past seven (7) years in the management of building mechanical maintenance operations and supervision of technicians for a facility or facility campus of at least 1 million square feet.
- The Chief Engineer must possess a valid stationary engineer’s license at least equivalent to a Class 3 Steam Engineer (DC) or First Grade Engineer (MD
- Demonstrate competency in other disciplines such as HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical through a combination of education, professional registration and experience.
- An industry certification from International Facility Management Association (CFM, FMP and/or SFP), Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), and/or Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) are highly desirable.
- Ability to plan, organize and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as required.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of engineering and building systems.
- Ability to read, review, and understand blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Shall be available for emergency contact by phone twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year.
- Shall have an availability to work flexible hours as required in response to emergency situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, CMMS and project tracking software.
