A Dexter Branch General Manager is the senior business leader responsible for the growth, profitability, customer experience, and operational performance of the branch.


This leader operates the branch as a business unit, driving commercial growth while ensuring world-class customer service, inventory performance, logistics execution, and financial discipline.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing customer relationships, coaching employees, analyzing financial performance, and leading operational execution.


Success is measured by customer growth, profitability, service performance, talent development, and operational excellence.


Key Accountabilities

1. Drive Profitable Growth

  • Develop and execute plans to achieve branch sales, gross profit, and market share objectives.
  • Expand relationships with existing customers while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to build strong relationships with key customers and serve as the senior leader for major account interactions.
  • Partner with outside sales team and marketing team to drive customer acquisition, retention, and wallet-share growth leveraging company resources/technology/AI.
  • Lead customer retention, recovery, and win-back efforts.
  • Drive growth of higher-margin products and solutions.


2. Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience

  • Create a customer-first culture across all branch functions.
  • Ensure customers consistently receive accurate, timely, and reliable service.
  • Drive accountability for communication, order management, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, retention, and service performance metrics.
  • Lead recovery efforts following service failures and customer escalations.


3. Lead Operational Excellence

  • Maintain industry-leading inventory accuracy and availability, partnering with central SIOP team.
  • Drive warehouse productivity, safety, and process discipline.
  • Ensure efficient receiving, replenishment, picking, shipping, and delivery execution.
  • Partner with logistics team to optimize inbound freight performance and transportation costs and efficiently manage your branch’s outbound delivery trucks and drivers.
  • Utilize performance metrics to identify issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient facility operation.


4. Deliver Strong Financial Results

  • Own branch P&L performance and accountability.
  • Achieve revenue, gross profit, and EBITDA targets through pricing discipline, product mix, and customer strategy.
  • Improve working capital performance through inventory productivity.
  • Manage labor, freight, and operating expenses to maximize profitability.
  • Utilize financial and operational reporting to make data-driven decisions.


5. Develop High-Performing Teams

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing team members.
  • Conduct daily team huddles focused on safety, priorities, and execution.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Build succession plans and develop future leaders.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.

This role is not a warehouse manager position and is not solely a sales leadership role.

The Branch General Manager is expected to operate as the "CEO of the branch"—owning customer growth, profitability, operational excellence, and people development while creating long-term value for customers, employees, and the company.


What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in branch operations, warehouse management, sales, or related field
  • Progressive leadership responsibility
  • Proven experience managing P&L and driving business performance.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management systems, and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive sales growth, and build strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP platforms.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to [insert weight] and operate warehouse equipment as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
