What You’ll Do
The Central Operations Service Representative III is a senior-level role designed for a versatile banking operations professional capable of performing every function within the Central Operations department.
As a subject matter expert and escalation point, this individual ensures the smooth execution of daily operational tasks—ranging from complex legal processing to electronic funds transfers—while acting as a primary backup for department staff. Beyond daily processing, the Level III Representative plays a critical role in process improvement, drafting departmental procedures, supporting the Manager with audits, and mentoring junior staff to ensure strict compliance with Bank policies and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Management: Execute high-level technical operations including ACH receiving/origination, incoming/outgoing wire transfers, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) balancing, and mobile deposit review.
- Legal & Claims Processing: Serve as the central point of contact for legal processes (levies, subpoenas), ensuring timely responses and coordination with legal counsel. Process Regulation E claims, merchant disputes, chargebacks, and collection items.
- Account Maintenance: Manage critical account functions such as dormant/inactive account due diligence, stop payments, non-post items, NSF processing, and ATM balancing.
- Online Account Opening: Review online account opening submissions, assess risk levels, and coordinate with BSA and Compliance departments to make onboarding decisions.
- Procedure Development: Identify operational inefficiencies and assist the Manager in writing and updating detailed operational procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Reporting & Audits: Gather data and prepare reports for management and internal audits. Assist with department certifications and risk assessments.
- Special Projects: Lead or assist with special projects assigned by the Central Operations Manager, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
- Escalation Point: Act as a primary escalation point for complex operational issues, resolving problems for branch employees and external clients with a focus on superior service.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide training to department staff as needed and act as a primary backup for various functions during staff absences or volume surges.
- Internal Collaboration: Communicate frequently with branches and internal departments to resolve client issues, answer procedural questions, and ensure file maintenance accuracy via call-back duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of Central Operations experience in a bank or credit union environment.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and 10-key data entry. Ability to navigate and utilize core banking systems for complex processing.
