What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at DeWinter Group?
Our nonprofit client seeks a Controller that will be a key and integral member of the Finance team. Reporting to the CFO and leading a team of 5, the Controller is responsible for the overall management of the agency financial operations, including but not limited to overseeing daily accounting operations, managing month end close and yearly audits and oversees grant external financial reporting. The Controller is also responsible to ensure accounting policies and procedures adhere to internal controls, compliance and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
- Collaborate with external consulting team to improve financial reporting structure and integrity.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports for all legal entities.
- Perform quarterly reconciliation on all balance sheet accounts and prepare flux analysis.
- Oversee grant external financial reporting.
- Supervise Accounts Payables, Payroll and Grants Receivables teams.
- Manage and update the Chart of Accounts in Sage Intacct.
- Maintain and update agency financial policies and procedures.
- Support Chief Financial Officer in executing and overseeing internal controls.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audit processes for all agency entities, Single Audit, 5500 audit, workers comp audit and grant monitoring audits.
- Drive process improvements in Sage Intacct and Paycom.
- Attends monthly Leadership Team meetings and PQI meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. MBA/CPA preferred but not required.
- At least seven years of senior management experience with similar sized organizations.
- Experience with nonprofit agencies is required.
- Experience with SEFA and Single Audit is required.
- Must be able to maintain financial integrity.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work with high volume of details.
- Excellent organizational and resource management skills to manage deadlines and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate with a diverse team of program and administrative staff.
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change.
Salary : $120,000 - $155,000
