Grassroots Intern

Dewey Square Group (DSG) is a nationally recognized public affairs firm that has been at the center of major policy campaigns for more than 30 years. We help corporations, trade associations, and nonprofit organizations address complex public affairs, community relations, and government relations challenges.

DSG designs and executes effective campaigns using grassroots and grasstops engagement strategies, research, advocacy, and message-driven communications. Founded by three veteran political operatives, DSG is staffed by experienced strategists with strong Democratic and progressive campaign backgrounds.

We are seeking driven, detail-oriented college graduates interested in politics, advocacy, research, public policy, social media, and traditional media. This internship offers an excellent, hands-on opportunity to gain experience in political consulting, organizing, strategic communications, and issue advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Public Affairs Intern, you will play an active role in supporting client accounts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Research & Analysis: Conducting short- and long-term research projects on diverse public policy issues.
• Media Monitoring: Tracking policy issues, legislation, and media coverage; compiling daily press clips and news digests.
• Content Creation: Drafting and editing written materials (press releases, memos, briefs) and creating engaging content for social media platforms.
• Client & Business Support: Assisting with weekly client reports, presentations, and new-business proposals.
• Operations: Providing administrative and project-management support to account teams as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:

Required:

• Educational Background: Must hold a completed bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the internship (this program is tailored for degree holders; current undergraduate students are not eligible).
• Communication Skills: Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability: Able to work full-time (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

Preferred (but not required):

Prior experience or active involvement in political campaigns, community organizing, public policy, advocacy, communications, or media relations.
