Senior Engineer – Vehicle Dynamics Simulation
Location: Newark, CA (Onsite)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/week (potential overtime)
Role Overview
As a Senior Engineer – Vehicle Dynamics Simulation, you will be responsible for guiding the development of ride, handling, steering, and braking attributes from concept through production. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, system owners, and test engineers, to create high-fidelity simulations, analyze data, and deliver vehicles with exceptional driving performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and use vehicle and system models to support vehicle design and development.
- Provide objective data guidance on vehicle dynamics and durability performance based on simulation outputs.
- Conduct analysis of real-world test data and correlate it with simulation models for validation.
- Guide vehicle development by evaluating dynamics performance through Driver-In-the-Loop (DIL) simulators.
- Collaborate across teams to optimize steering, braking, suspension, and ride-handling attributes.
- Present simulation results and recommendations to stakeholders through reports and technical presentations.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of automotive engineering experience with a solid understanding of vehicle dynamics principles.
- 3 years of hands-on experience using ADAMS, CarRealTime, CarMaker, CarSim, or similar simulation tools.
- Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink fundamentals.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BS/BEng or MS/MEng) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8 years of relevant automotive or motorsport experience.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as Dymola, MatLab, Python, or C .
- Familiarity with Driver-In-the-Loop (DIL) simulation tools.
- Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant processes and engineering best practices.
- Experience with SAE standards and automotive development lifecycles.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical and business priorities.
