Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, talented Music Therapist to join our enrichment services team. In this role, you’ll bring comfort, connection, and peace to our hospice patients and families through the power of music. This role may also include participation in community events, patient memory-making, and hospice memorial services.
Responsibilities:
- Assess music therapy needs of the patient/family and provide music therapy services to the hospice patients and their families, as appropriate.
- Provides ongoing education to the clinical team of appropriateness and/or contraindications for treatment.
- Maintains necessary records; clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, which will be incorporated into the patient's clinical record within 24 hours of session.
- Facilitate music for memorial services and various marketing events in the area.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program OR notable experience in the field
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Strong vocal and instrumental skills with the ability to adapt in sessions.
- Understands hospice philosophy, focus of care is comfort vs. rehab
- Must pass a background check
- Must be able to serve a 45 minute radius of Milford, MI
Preference:
- Hospice experience strongly perferred
- Licensure/Certification: MT-BC certification from Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- 2 years music therapy experience preferred
- Familiarity with a wide range of instruments and improvisational approaches
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize a wide variety of musical instruments
