Duties
- Operate plow trucks with precision to efficiently clear snow, ice, and debris from designated areas including roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and pathways.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plow trucks and related equipment such as salt spreaders, sanders, and power tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, lawn care, gardening, tree trimming, and landscape installation projects using hand tools, power tools, excavators, or other landscaping machinery.
- Support hardscape construction projects by preparing sites, operating machinery like excavators or skid steers, and installing features such as walkways or retaining walls.
- Conduct general groundskeeping duties including irrigation system checks, horticulture tasks, tree care (trimming or removal), and seasonal planting activities.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members on landscaping projects that involve lawn care, gardening, or landscape maintenance to enhance outdoor aesthetics.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations or adverse weather conditions by deploying snow plowing operations to keep access routes clear and safe for all users.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience maintaining and troubleshooting plow trucks, power tools, hand tools, excavators, and other landscaping machinery.
- Proven expertise in snow plowing techniques combined with knowledge of salt spreading and ice mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices including mowing, gardening, tree care (trimming/removal), irrigation systems, hardscape installation, and horticulture principles.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or skid steers safely and efficiently within construction or landscaping settings.
- Excellent understanding of safety protocols related to equipment operation and outdoor work environments.
- Skilled in using hand tools for landscaping tasks like planting or pruning as well as power tools for larger projects.
- Knowledge of lawn care practices including fertilization, aeration, overseeding and seasonal plantings.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and quality workmanship.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members on project timelines and safety procedures.
