Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and proactive Warehouse & Yard Specialist to join our Springfield team. This unique "combo" role requires a blend of technical skill and physical stamina. You will be responsible for operating our CNC plasma table—including basic file input—as well as managing yard logistics via forklift and maintaining a safe, organized facility. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can transition seamlessly from high-precision machine operation to heavy-duty material handling.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Plasma Operation: Set up and operate the plasma cutting table; input DXF files or manual data to execute precise cuts on steel plate.
- Material Handling: Operate heavy-duty forklifts to move, stack, and retrieve steel beams, plates, and finished assemblies safely.
- Logistics & Loading: Efficiently load outgoing trailers (securing loads for transport) and unload incoming shipments, verifying materials against manifests.
- Yard Maintenance: Maintain an organized yard and warehouse; perform regular "housekeeping" to ensure a safe, debris-free work environment.
- Equipment Care: Perform daily pre-shift inspections on the plasma table and forklift; report maintenance needs immediately.
- Inventory Support: Assist with inventory counts and ensure all materials are stored in their designated zones for easy retrieval.
Qualifications
- Technical Aptitude: Experience operating a CNC plasma table (or similar CNC equipment) is highly preferred. Ability to handle basic computer inputs and file loading (DXF).
- Forklift Expertise: Minimum 2 years of experience operating forklifts, preferably in a steel or heavy industrial environment.
- Steel Knowledge: Familiarity with different steel shapes, grades, and sizes.
- Physical Capability: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliability: Strong work ethic and a "safety-first" mentality.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
