Compensation: $17.60 - $20.50 (Depending on Experience)
The Role
Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking a dependable Puller to support customer orders and inter-site transfers within our nursery yard. This role is responsible for accurately selecting plant material, ensuring plant quality and health, and preparing orders for will-call, delivery, or transfer to other Devil Mountain locations.
Pullers play a critical role in operational execution by ensuring customers receive the correct product in excellent condition. This position works closely with Crew Leaders, Yard teams, and office staff to support efficient order fulfillment.
What You’ll Do
- Accurately identify and pull plant material based on order specifications
- Ensure plant quality, health, and presentation meet company standards
- Use the RF Smart Scanner to verify inventory accuracy and update the system
- Follow direction from Crew Leaders regarding picking zones and priorities
- Assist with manual picks, yard builds, and front counter orders
- Reconcile discrepancies and support inventory accuracy
- Operate tractors, RTVs, or electric carts with trailers as needed
- Assist customers in locating and loading plant material
- Maintain plant care standards, including watering prior to will-call or delivery
- Support yard cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions
- Communicate effectively via radio and with office staff regarding order status
What You Bring
Required
- Strong knowledge of plant identification, quality, and health
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outdoor environment
- Attention to detail and order accuracy
- Ability to safely lift and move plant material
- Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset
Preferred
- Experience in a nursery or landscape environment
- Experience operating yard equipment
Work Environment & Expectations
This is a physically demanding outdoor role performed in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Work is conducted on uneven ground surfaces with extensive walking required.
Physical requirements include:
- Standing or walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and squatting
- Lifting up to 50 lbs (75% of the time)
- Team lifting up to 100 lbs (25% of the time)
- Gross grasping and frequent use of hands and fingers
PPE is required as applicable.
