Qualifications
Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, understand the theories of behavior management, utilize positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to successfully pass required clearances, complete 40 hours of paid new hire trainings, and have a strong passion for supporting individuals with special needs.
Physical Requirements
Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing required. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required when applying physical intervention techniques in excess of 100 lbs or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to master Safe and Positive Approach trainings.
Work Environment
May require use of protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, protective eye-wear, and gowns. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors
- Assisting and supporting in the planning, implementation and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of adults served
- Accompanying residents on community outings, medical appointments and other activities, as directed by program management
- Hygiene care
- Must be willing to work with adults with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors

- A minimum of one weekend shift per week required
- Three full 8 hour shifts are required for PT (24 hr/week minimum)

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
- One (1) year of experience providing direct care to adults with developmental disabilities required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- One weekend shift per week required
- Direct Support Professional Year 1 Certification by the State of California
- Direct Support Professional Year 2 Certification by the State of California
- Registered Behavioral Technician Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
